How does the rush for transition minerals fuel protest, dissent, and violence across the world? 

This panel will examine the links between mining, protest, violence and dissent, as well as how mineral supply chains can be made more secure for all.  

Head of Policy and EU Relations at Global Witness, Emily Iona Stewart, will share our latest investigation and interactive tool which maps critical mineral production, ownership of production, and incidents of social unrest related to mining transition minerals globally. 

We will also hear from other speakers about specific cases of conflict and mining related to transition mineral mining and about how the effects of not gaining Free, Prior and Informed Consent can lead to preventable conflicts.
